MSG Knickerbockers Corp. has finalized its split from the New York Rangers franchise, completing a corporate separation that reshapes ownership of two iconic sports properties. The company formerly known as Madison Square Garden Sports Corp. now trades under the ticker MSGK on the New York Stock Exchange.
The newly independent Rangers entity, MSG Rangers Corp., begins trading under the symbol MSGR. Both listings went live today, marking the culmination of a restructuring effort designed to give each franchise dedicated management focus and clearer investor visibility.
Shareholders of record as of October 20 received one MSG Rangers share for every two MSG Knicks shares they held. The distribution went into effect at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on October 26.
No shareholder action or payment was required. Those holding MSG Knicks stock on the record date will either see a book-entry statement reflecting their new Rangers shares or have their brokerage accounts credited automatically.
MSG Knicks closed Monday at $384.39.
The spinoff continues a pattern of strategic separations across the sports and entertainment sector, where teams increasingly operate as standalone public companies. Investors can now buy into the Knicks or Rangers businesses independently, a structure that may appeal to those seeking exposure to a single franchise rather than a bundled portfolio.
