Ebos Chief Retires After Delivering 168% Returns, Names New CEO

Ebos CEO Cullity resigns, 1H solid

Ebos Group will replace chief executive John Cullity with Adam Hall on July 1, capping a leadership run that delivered shareholder returns of 168% over a decade.

The dual-listed healthcare distributor and pharmaceutical wholesaler announced the succession alongside first-half results showing resilient underlying growth. Hall arrives from Orica Limited, where he led Asian operations as group executive and president. His résumé also includes senior posts at CF Industries and Bunge across the US, UK, and Asia.

Chair Liz Coutts credited Hall with proven expertise in strategic expansion and dealmaking. His compensation package includes a base salary of A$1.35 million, short-term incentives worth A$1.82 million, and long-term incentives of A$2.23 million. A sign-on payment of A$2.4 million offsets incentive arrangements he forfeited at his previous employer.

Cullity joined Ebos in 2009 as chief financial officer before ascending to the top role. During his tenure, the company closed more than 20 acquisitions that deepened its core operations while moving into adjacent sectors such as medical technology.

Normalised revenue for the six months to December 31 climbed 9.5% to A$5.9 billion, excluding the Chemist Warehouse Australia distribution contract. Statutory revenue fell 9% over the same period.

Underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation rose 7.1% to A$291 million. Statutory EBITDA slipped 9% to A$276 million. Underlying net profit after tax declined 14.1% to A$131 million, while statutory net profit dropped 18.9% to A$110 million. The board held the interim dividend steady at NZ$0.57 per share.

Management reaffirmed full-year guidance for underlying EBITDA between A$575 million and A$600 million, implying growth of roughly 5% to 10%. The transition now sets up a test for Hall to maintain that momentum across Ebos’s Australasian and Asian markets.
