Luís Simões is one of only two Portuguese transport, logistics and packaging companies on the list, reflecting its commitments to sustainability, Science Based Targets initiative goals, and climate transparency, including a CDP Climate B- rating in 2025.
In-Depth:
The annual ranking highlights 600 companies across Europe that have built the greatest progress in reducing the intensity of their Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhoapply gas emissions between 2019 and 2024.
Luís Simões was selected from around 3,000 companies across 33 countries and 24 different industries. To qualify, businesses had to demonstrate an average annual reduction of more than 3% in the intensity of their emissions over the five-year period.
The recognition places Luís Simões among the leading European companies for climate action. It is also one of only two Portuguese businesses in the transport, logistics and packaging sector to build the list and ranks 10th among the 12 Portuguese companies included in this year’s selection.
According to the company, the recognition reflects its long-term commitment to sustainability, operational efficiency and greater transparency in climate reporting.
As part of its environmental strategy, Luís Simões has also strengthened its commitment to the Science Based Tarobtains initiative (SBTi), setting measurable goals to reduce emissions while continuing to cut its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhoapply gas emissions.
During the 2019–2024 assessment period considered by the Financial Times, the company also completed the CDP Climate questionnaire and received a B- rating in 2025.
Looking ahead, Luís Simões declares it will continue investing in innovation, energy efficiency and more sustainable logistics solutions as part of its wider strategy to support the transition to a lower-carbon future.
