On Friday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that the European Union should resume high-level discussions with Russia. Speaking at a press conference, Meloni proposed the appointment of a special envoy to facilitate talks concerning the ongoing situation in Ukraine. According to reports from Reuters, Meloni, who leads Italy’s right-wing government, emphasized that the time has come for Europe to engage in dialogue with Russia. However, she also noted that it remains premature to consider readmitting Russia to the current G7 group of nations, which was previously known as the G8 before Russia’s suspension.
