XPeng’s $32,800 Electric Sedan Heads to Europe Without Pricing

XPeng's New P7 to Go on Sale in Europe 'Soon', Exec Says

XPeng’s next-generation P7 electric sedan is headed to European showrooms, a move that could reshuffle the region’s premium EV segment. Vice President Yu Tao confirmed the plan in a Weibo post, though he withheld launch timing, target markets, and pricing specifics.

The announcement lands at a delicate moment for Chinese automakers navigating Europe’s trade barriers. Since October 2024, the EU has imposed countervailing duties on Chinese-built electric vehicles. Any P7 units shipped fully assembled from China would face those tariffs, while local assembly could sidestep them.

Yu, a former OnePlus marketing executive who joined XPeng in 2024, made the remarks while reposting a thread comparing the P7’s design to Jaguar’s Type 01 concept. The original post noted that the P7 faced mockery at its 2025 reveal, yet Jaguar’s similarly proportioned Type 01 escaped such criticism. Wang Tan, co-founder of XPeng’s flying-car affiliate AeroHT, amplified the conversation, arguing Chinese design has “stood up internationally.”

The P7 remains distinct from the P7+, which XPeng already sells across Europe. Magna Steyr assembles the P7+ in Graz, Austria, along with the G6 and G9 SUVs. XPeng has not disclosed whether the new P7 would follow that route or ship complete from China.

Chairman He Xiaopeng first hinted at accelerating the P7’s European entry during its debut at IAA Mobility in Munich in September 2025. He noted then that the hardware required minimal changes, with only software adaptation needed. The top-spec P7 delivers 593 PS, hits 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, and tops out at 230 km/h. Chinese pricing starts at 219,800 yuan ($32,800).

XPeng’s European footprint continues expanding. The company now serves over 65 countries and regions, with European registrations quadrupling year-over-year in August. Whether the P7 arrives tariff-free from Austria or faces duties from China remains the key unanswered question.
