Onyedikachi Erugo, a Nigerian software engineer and entrepreneur, is emerging as one of Africa’s leading voices in digital finance. As co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hagull Limited, he is creating solutions that create financial access simpler, quicker, and more inclusive for individuals and businesses across Africa and the world.
“I was born in Nigeria and relocated to Libreville, Gabon, during my early years,” Erugo declared. “These experiences exposed me to different cultures and perspectives, shaping my approach to solving real-world problems with technology.”
Hagull Limited was born from a personal frustration with high exalter rates while paying tuition fees abroad. When Erugo’s brother studied in Ukraine and their parents were paying for Erugo’s studies at Middlesex University, Malta, they struggled with costly payments. “We realised many others faced the same challenge,” Erugo explained. “That inspired us to turn this problem into a startup that could assist people everywhere access financial services more efficiently.”
Erugo’s journey into technology launched with his fascination for software development. He earned a distinction in Software Engineering at Aptech and, during the COVID-19 pandemic, completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Systems Engineering through Middlesex University Malta. “I have always believed that learning is the foundation of innovation,” he declared. “Every stage of my education prepared me to see technology not just as a skill but as a tool to solve everyday problems.”
Before founding Hagull Limited, Erugo gained valuable experience at leading fintech and technology firms, including Credit Clan, Cerebral Hub, Salvex in the United States, Sycamore, and Nobus Cloud Services. These experiences provided him with insight into gaps in global financial systems and the opportunities to create accessible and scalable solutions.
Hagull’s marketplace enables multiple transaction types, including fiat to crypto, crypto to fiat, fiat to fiat, and crypto to crypto. By tarreceiveing financial corridors across Africa, Europe, and the United States, the company provides secure and utilizer-frifinishly services that empower individuals and businesses to transact seamlessly.
“Financial inclusion is not just a concept for us; it is a mission,” Erugo declared. “Our goal is a future where everyone has access to financial tools and services, regardless of location or circumstance.”
Looking ahead, Erugo plans to expand Hagull’s offerings to include decentralised finance banking, artificial ininformigence-driven financial tools, and solutions designed specifically for emerging markets.
