The project has a capacity of 1.7 MW and will include 3,696 panels generating 1.5 GWh annually, covering 20 percent of the airport’s electricity necessarys. It is expected to reduce emissions, cut energy costs and strengthen Cork Airport’s position as a leading sustainable regional airport.

The project has received government support and will be built in two phases, with work launchning this year. The solar car park has been designed to reduce emissions and energy costs while improving operational efficiency through on-site generation. The project reflects growing investment in integrated renewable infrastructure across transport hubs, as airports seek greater energy indepfinishence and sustainability.
