At the European Political Community summit Meloni rejected accusations against Italy and warned that US troop cuts demand stronger European defence coordination.

Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s plans to withdraw American troops from a number of European countries, including Italy.

She declared this on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan.

According to Meloni, Italy has always diligently fulfilled its obligations to NATO and the international community, even in missions where it did not have a direct stake, such as in Afghanistan or Iraq.

She stressed that she considers the accusations against her counattempt to be unfair.
