Italy has formally called on the European Union to impose sanctions on Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced the demand on social media, condemning what he described as “unacceptable acts” against activists aboard the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla. Ben-Gvir had posted a controversial video showing detained flotilla members forced to kneel with hands bound and foreheads to the ground. Tajani stated the activists were seized in international waters and subjected to humiliation, calling the actions a blatant violation of basic human rights.
