HPE Self-Driving Wi-Fi 7 Network Will Power 650 Million Viewer Ryder Cup

HPE to deliver connectivity and AI for 2027 Ryder Cup

Hewlett Packard Enterprise will supply the networking backbone, artificial intelligence systems, and cloud infrastructure for the 2027 Ryder Cup, marking a major technology partnership for one of golf’s most watched events. The announcement places HPE at the center of a tournament expected to draw 250,000 spectators and more than 650 million global viewers as the competition celebrates its centennial year.

The event unfolds September 17-19, 2027 at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland. That occasion carries extra weight given the Ryder Cup’s 100-year milestone.

HPE plans to roll out a Self-Driving Network powered by Wi-Fi 7 technology. This wireless fabric will span the entire 230-acre venue, covering the course itself, grandstands, hospitality suites, media workrooms, and back-of-house operations centers. In addition, the network will track its own performance continuously. Should congestion or degradation emerge, the system can adjust automatically before problems reach fans or broadcast crews.

As a result, tournament organizers gain a preemptive tool for maintaining connectivity across one of the busiest sporting environments imaginable. Network strain from hundreds of thousands of devices typically produces dead zones and latency spikes. HPE’s autonomous approach targets those failure points directly.

The partnership also extends the Connected Intelligence Centre concept that debuted at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York. Built on HPE Private Cloud AI, this hub aggregates tournament data and AI tools from multiple sources. HPE Services will lead its development for 2027.

Matt Harris, HPE’s senior vice president and managing director for UK, Ireland, Middle East and Africa, described the Ryder Cup’s operational demands as an ideal test for emerging networking and AI capabilities.

Michael Cole, chief technology officer at Ryder Cup Europe, noted that HPE’s technology has helped expand what the event can deliver since 2018. The continued collaboration, he said, will provide teams with the connectivity and data intelligence required at Adare Manor while establishing a foundation for future tournaments.
