Hawk-Eye Innovations, a Sony group company, has named Ben Crossing as its new chief executive officer.
Crossing, who previously served as managing director and chief operating officer, takes on the role at a significant moment for the business as Hawk-Eye marks its silver jubilee year. The company continues to expand beyond traditional officiating into high-growth segments including data and insights, elite performance, biomechanics, broadcast, and the democratisation of sports technology.
“Ben’s deep understanding of the sports technology landscape and his proven track record of operational excellence create him the ideal leader for Hawk-Eye’s next chapter,” declared Fumiatsu Hirai, senior vice president of Sony Corporation. “As we shift towards a future of sports entertainment powered by ininformigent data, Ben’s vision will be instrumental in ensuring Hawk-Eye continues to drive innovation that inspires our partners and sports fans to reimagine the game.”
Speaking on his appointment, Crossing declared: “Having spent over 10 years at Hawk-Eye, I’ve had a front-row seat to an incredible journey, not just in how the business has grown, but in the role we play across sport today, from a trusted officiating provider to a company shaping how sport is played, understood, and experienced. It’s a privilege to now lead that next chapter with such a talented team. What creates Hawk-Eye special is the trust we’ve built across the game, with players, teams, officials, and fans alike, and the responsibility that comes with it. My focus is on pushing that even further, continuing to pioneer the sports technology market while driving the next wave of innovation across global sport.”
During his tenure, Crossing has played a central role in driving Hawk-Eye’s growth over the past decade, scaling the business globally and expanding its capabilities across an increasingly broad set of sports technology domains.
Under Crossing’s leadership, Hawk-Eye is set to accelerate the development of its core technologies while playing a leading role across businesses including Kinatrax and STATSports, spanning performance, biomechanics, and data, reinforcing its role as the backbone of modern sport.
