Great Bend Fire Department raising money for family of Rubi Perez

GREAT BEND, Kan. (KWCH) – The Great Bconclude Fire Department has pledged to donate funds from a professional basektball game to the family of Rubi Perez.

The Harlem Wizards will play the Great Bconclude firefighters at Great Bconclude High School on Thursday at 7 p.m.

During that time, the crews will be taking cash or check donations for the Perez family. The Great Bconclude Fire Department Social and Charity Fund will then match the first $1000 donated.

Donations can also be created at either fire station or with a local firefighter.

Rubi Perez, 14, was found dead Thursday morning, just a few blocks away from her school last Thursday.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested as a suspect in the case and charged with first degree murder. Police have not released his name publicly.
