French dental robotics firm secures €15 million to automate veneer procedures

Montpellier-based dental robotics startup Lupin Dental closes €15 million Series A round

Lupin Dental, a Montpellier startup building robotic systems for dental procedures, has locked down €15 million in Series A funding to push its supervised automation platform into broader clinical use.

The capital injection arrives as demand grows for precision tools that reduce human error in aesthetic dentistry. Dental robotics remains a young field, yet clinics increasingly seek technology that standardizes outcomes for procedures like veneers.

Fynveur led the round with a €10 million commitment. Existing shareholders and private investors contributed the remainder, while Bpifrance supplemented the financing through a loan. Fynveur and its advisor, Invus, will work alongside Lupin Dental on strategy and operations. Invus also gains a board seat.

Co-founders Dr. Galip Gürel and Dr. Stefen Koubi framed the raise as validation of their long-term vision. They said the milestone reflects investor confidence and accelerates their mission to reshape dental care through innovation.

The company launched in 2019 with a clear focus: bring supervised automation to veneers and other complex treatments. Its Lupin Robotic System combines software for designing a patient’s final smile with a workstation that carries out the tooth preparation plan. The goal is accurate, minimally invasive preparation so restorations fit precisely.

Regulatory momentum is building. In June 2026, the system earned UKCA certification for commercialization in Great Britain. That followed earlier clearance in India. Meanwhile, the platform still lacks approval for clinical use in the United States or European Union.

Leadership has also shifted. Michel Mayer, former Chairman and CEO of Freescale Semiconductor, now chairs the board. Philippe Veran, founder and CEO of Biotech Dental, joined as a board member earlier this year.

Looking ahead, Lupin Dental plans to forge partnerships with academic institutions, medical centers, individual dentists, and Dental Service Organizations to drive adoption of its robotic technology.
