LA PLATA, Maryland — The European Space Agency (ESA) on April 14 contracted the third tranche of its HydRON program to develop high-speed optical communications links, both inter-sainformite and between sainformites and ground terminals, a program that is applying a diverse mix of optical terminal providers.
HydRON is designed ultimately to provide in-orbit demonstration of a terabit-per-second-capacity network including sainformites in multiple orbits and communicating with diverse utilizer terminals.
