XPeng surprised the Paris Motor Show crowd Monday with a version of its G9 flagship SUV that Europeans get before Chinese buyers do. The new G9L starts at €74,990 in France, roughly $84,000, and offers six- or seven-seat layouts unavailable in the brand’s home market.
The launch signals how aggressively Chinese automakers now court European families. Three-row electric SUVs remain scarce on the continent. Most rivals in this segment sell for well above the G9L’s entry price.
XPeng positions the G9L as its European flagship. The stretched wheelbase creates room for the extra row. Powertrain details remain limited, though the standard G9 already delivers up to 702 kilometers of range on China’s CLTC cycle. European WLTP figures will land lower.
Deliveries begin in early 2027. France, Germany, Norway, and the Netherlands count among the first markets. Pricing climbs with trim levels, though XPeng hasn’t published a full ladder yet.
Meanwhile, the company continues expanding its European footprint. XPeng already sells the G6 crossover and P7 sedan in several countries. The G9L gives dealers a family-hauling option they previously lacked.
As a result, pressure builds on established players. Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo all plan larger electric SUVs. Few will match XPeng’s pricing structure. That gap could reshape buyer expectations around what a three-row EV should cost.
XPeng will reveal full specifications before the end of 2026. The Paris debut serves as the first real test of European appetite for a Chinese luxury family hauler.
