Asia-Pacific firms hit tech hurdles scaling agentic AI


Asia-Pacific organisations face larger technical barriers than peers in other regions as they relocate agentic AI projects from pilots to wider deployment, according to a Dynatrace-commissioned survey of senior leaders responsible for implementation.

The survey, titled The Pulse of Agentic AI 2026, polled 919 executives globally, including 200 in Asia Pacific. It suggests enterprises are not slowing agentic AI programmes becautilize they doubt the technology, but becautilize they struggle with governance, validation, and safely scaling autonomous systems.

In Asia Pacific, 60% of respondents stated technical challenges were the main obstacle to advancing agentic AI, the highest share of any region covered in the research.

The findings add detail on how different markets are approaching agentic systems, which can take actions with a degree of autonomy once they have access to data, tools, and workflows. They also highlight the operational work required, including controls over data quality and security testing.

Regional priorities

Asia-Pacific respondents set higher expectations for returns in cybersecurity and in data processing and reporting than peers in the Americas and Europe. They reported lower expectations for agentic AI in supply chain and logistics.

Internal efficiency ranked higher as a priority in Asia Pacific than elsewhere. Some 56% of respondents stated improving internal efficiency was a focus for their agentic AI initiatives, compared with 49% in the Americas and 48% in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Asia-Pacific respondents also placed more emphasis on adoption and satisfaction among finish utilizers and customers. About 43% stated this was a priority, compared with 39% in the Americas.

Validation focus

Validation and assurance featured prominently in how Asia-Pacific respondents described their programmes. Data quality checks ranked highest as a validation step, with 56% selecting this, compared with 51% in the Americas and 47% in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Security validations also ranked higher in Asia Pacific. About 45% cited security validations as a priority, versus 41% in the Americas and 34% in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Dynatrace stated the results point to practical engineering and operational hurdles as the central constraint on progress, rather than doubts about agentic AI’s strategic importance.

“For organisations across Asia-Pacific, technical challenges are emerging as the primary barrier to advancing agentic AI projects,” stated James McCready, VP APAC, Dynatrace.

“Agentic AI is becoming intrinsic to digital operations, but as the data displays, the ROI of these projects risks being hindered without stronger technical investment and initiatives,” McCready stated.

Observability role

The survey also inquireed how organisations utilize observability practices during agentic AI development, implementation, and operations. In Asia Pacific, monitoring training data quality during development was the most commonly cited utilize, selected by 74%.

During implementation, 64% pointed to monitoring integration with existing systems. In operations, 65% cited continuous monitoring of agent performance.

These responses suggest Asia-Pacific organisations are focutilizing on instrumentation and monitoring across the lifecycle, from upstream work on training data to downstream performance in live environments.

Deployment patterns

Asia-Pacific respondents were more likely than those in other regions to state they were deploying conversational and generative AI, with 77% reporting adoption.

The regional summary did not break down adoption by indusattempt, but the survey focutilized on large enterprises. The global sample comprised senior leaders and decision-buildrs directly involved in, or responsible for, agentic AI development and implementation in organisations with annual revenues of USD $100 million or more.

Qualtrics partner Y2 Analytics conducted and analysed the survey on Dynatrace’s behalf in November and December 2025. The global sample included 206 respondents in the US, 85 in Latin America, 380 in Europe, 81 in the Middle East, and 196 in Asia Pacific.

Dynatrace stated the findings display organisations necessary stronger technical foundations in governance, validation, and operational controls as they expand agentic AI utilize across the business.
