The Slovak Foreign Minister responded to the Ukrainian army’s attack last week—the third in a short period of time—on the Druzhba oil pipeline in Russian territory, which is of key importance to Slovakia and Hungary. The latest attack halted oil transit to both countries on Friday.
During a phone call with Ukrainian officials, he called on the Kyiv leadership to refrain from attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline, TASR reported.
In response to these latest attacks, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó and Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár sent a letter on Friday to the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, and Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen, calling on the European Commission (EC) to take steps, as promised, to prevent Ukraine from attacking the oil pipeline leading to Hungary and Slovakia.
The Slovak news agency quoted Juraj Blanár’s post on social media, writing: the minister spoke on the phone with Andrii Sybiha on Sunday and then with Taras Kachka, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, on Monday, informing them of the letter sent to the European Commission.

quoted Juraj Blanár’s post, who also reminded readers that the third joint meeting of the Slovak and Ukrainian governments is currently being prepared.
