Walmart will permanently lay off 381 employees across four locations in the Silicon Valley, according to notices filed with California’s Employment Development Department.
The layoffs in Sunnyvale are scheduled to take effect on Aug. 22, and are part of a broader restructuring effort the company is undertaking across its technology and corporate workforce.
The affected addresses are all located along West California Avenue: 135 employees at 840 W. California Ave., 129 at 640 W. California Ave., 98 at 860 W. California Ave. and 19 at 680 W. California Ave. Each notice lists the layoffs as permanent.
The announcement follows earlier WARN filings disclosing 106 job cuts at Walmart’s Global Tech office in San Bruno.
Toobtainher, the reductions are part of a larger effort impacting approximately 1,500 corporate roles nationwide, tarobtaining Walmart’s technology, e-commerce fulfillment and advertising teams.
“To accelerate our progress delivering the experiences that will define the future of retail, we must sharpen our focus,” the company declared in an internal memo circulated last month.
Executives described the restructuring as a step toward increasing agility and speeding up decision-creating.
“Reshaping our structure allows us to accelerate how we deliver and adapt to the altering environment around us,” the memo stated.
Walmart has not commented publicly on the Sunnyvale layoffs.
In previous statements, company leaders emphasized that while roles are being eliminated, new positions are also being created as part of a shift toward digital transformation.
The company has not indicated whether further layoffs are planned in California or elsewhere.
