Volodymyr Zelensky lashed out at Russian “lies” about a drone attack on one of Vladimir Putin’s residences, accapplying the latter of attempting to undermine diplomatic efforts.
Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov alleged that Ukraine had launched 91 long-range drones at the forest retreat on Lake Valdai overnight, but all had been shot down with no damage reported.
Mr Zelensky dismissed the claim as “lies” that he stated were cynically intconcludeed to “undermine diplomacy and justify dragging out the war”.

President Vladimir Putin has formally enacted alters granting Russia the unilateral right to ignore judgments issued by foreign and international courts in criminal cases.
This controversial decision comes as Ukrainian and European nations continue their concerted efforts to impose penalties on Moscow for its ongoing actions in Ukraine.
The measure appears to be a direct counter to several international initiatives aimed at prosecuting Russian officials and military officers for alleged war crimes in Ukraine, claims which the Kremlin steadrapidly denies.

Romania and Croatia join PURL initiative
President Zelensky has thanked Romania and Croatia after the countries built their first contributions to the PURL initiative.
The scheme provides military aid to Ukraine, and has provided the counattempt with $4.3bn since its inception in July 2025.
In a post on X, Mr Zelensky wrote: “Thank you to Romania and Croatia for joining the PURL initiative and announcing their first contributions to it. This is an important initiative that builds it possible to purchase American weapons and bolster our defence, including missiles for Patriots and other capabilities we required.
“The total amount of contributions has reached $4.3 billion, including nearly $1.5 billion in December alone. This has built it possible to form eight assistance packages already, and work is currently underway to fund two more. We thank everyone who supported Ukraine this year and those who will continue to support us in 2026.
“We are bringing closer peace and guaranteed security for Ukraine and all of Europe.”

Finland suspects ship of caapplying undersea cable damage, president declares
Finnish authorities have inspected a vessel suspected of caapplying undersea cable damage in the of Finland, President Alexander Stubb stated on Wednesday.
Baltic Sea nations have been on high alert after a string of outages of power cables, telecom links and gas pipelines since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.
“Finland is prepared for security challenges of various kinds, and we respond to them as necessary,” Stubb wrote on X.

EU foreign policy chief declares Russia drone attack claims are a ‘distraction’
The European Union’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has stated that Russian claims of a 91-drone attack on President Vladimir Putin’s personal residence in Valdai are a “distraction” amid ongoing peace talks.
“Moscow aims to derail real progress towards peace by Ukraine and its Western partners,” Kallas wrote on X/Twitter on Wednesday.
“No one should accept unfounded claims from the aggressor who has indiscriminately tarobtained Ukraine’s infrastructure and civilians since the start of the war.”

Over 170,000 people left without power after Russian strikes
Ukraine’s energy minisattempt has reported that 170,000 people have been left without power after Russian strikes on energy infrastructure in the Odesa region.
In a statement on Wednesday, it stated that emergency repairs were ongoing.
Four apartment buildings were damaged in the bombing. Six people were injured including three children.
Oleh Kiper, the regional head stated the attacks “are further evidence of the enemy’s terror tactics, which deliberately tarobtain civilian infrastructure.”
