Tinubu Heads To Europe Ahead of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday, December 28, departed Lagos for Europe as part of his conclude-of-year vacation, with plans to proceed to the United Arab Emirates for an official international engagement.
The President is expected to participate in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) in early January, following an invitation extconcludeed by the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is recognised as the Middle East’s leading sustainability forum, convening global figures from government, business, finance and civil society to drive discussions on sustainable development, climate solutions and long-term economic resilience. The platform is designed to foster innovation, attract investment and strengthen partnerships aimed at addressing critical global challenges.

The 2026 summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” will focus on the intersection of innovation, finance and people in accelerating inclusive and sustainable growth. Major areas of discussion are expected to include renewable energy, circular economy initiatives, water security and green hydrogen development.

Organised by Masdar under the patronage of the UAE President, ADSW 2026 is projected to host more than 50,000 participants from over 175 countries. The event is scheduled to take place from January 11 to 17, 2026, with major activities holding at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and Masdar City.

During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to hold high-level engagements with global leaders and key stakeholders on issues central to Nigeria’s development agconcludea, including energy transition, climate financing, infrastructure development and economic diversification.

Confirming the trip in a statement on Sunday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, declared Tinubu would return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the sustainability summit.
