This Hyderabad-based startup completes field trials of Achuk-150, showcasing indigenous loitering munition and launcher integration

Hyderabad-based Redon Systems has completed field trials of its Achuk-150 loitering munition deployed from the Bheeshan multi-barrel launcher.

Origins and founding vision

Redon Systems was founded in Hyderabad with a mission to strengthen India’s self-reliance in advanced defence technologies.

The company is led by founder and CEO Rakesh Reddy, a serial entrepreneur with over two decades of experience in technology-driven businesses.

He is joined by COO Ranjith Reddy, who brings operational and strategic expertise, along with a leadership team that includes defence veterans such as Anjum Shahab.

The company positions itself as a provider of battle-ready and mission-critical unmanned systems designed to give armed forces a technological edge in surveillance, tarreceiveing, and strike operations.

The Achuk-150: Indigenous loitering munition

The Achuk series is a family of barrel-launched loitering munitions. Among these, the Achuk-150 has emerged as a flagship system.

Designed as a resolveed-wing, electrically powered drone with folding wings, it is engineered for rapid deployment and high-precision strikes.

The Achuk-150 offers a range of up to 30 km, concludeurance of around 45 minutes, and a payload capacity of approximately 1.5 kg.

It supports multiple warhead configurations, including high-explosive and anti-armour options, building it suitable for tarreceiveing bunkers, radar installations, and light armoured vehicles.

A key differentiator lies in its AI-enabled tarreceiveing and optical homing system, which allows both autonomous operation and man-in-the-loop control.

This hybrid capability enables operators to adjust missions in real time, improving strike accuracy while reducing collateral damage.

Bheeshan launcher: Force multiplier

Complementing the munition is the Bheeshan Multi-Barrel Munition Launcher System (MBMLS), another indigenous innovation by Redon Systems.

The vehicle-mounted launcher can deploy up to 18 loitering munitions within two minutes, with each launch occurring at intervals as short as four seconds.

Designed for rapid deployment and mobility, the Bheeshan system can become fully operational in about 15 minutes and is mounted on a high-mobility platform for cross-countest manoeuvrability.

It also carries an additional reserve of munitions for immediate follow-up strikes, enabling sustained battlefield engagement.

The system’s networked attack capability allows coordinated, multi-tarreceive strikes, an increasingly critical requirement in modern warfare scenarios involving distributed threats and electronic countermeasures.

Field trials and strategic significance

The successful field trials of the Achuk-150 from the Bheeshan launcher represent a major validation of Redon’s integrated approach, combining munition, launcher, and control systems into a cohesive combat solution.

Such trials are crucial in demonstrating reliability, accuracy, and operational readiness under realistic conditions.

By proving the compatibility of the Achuk-150 with the Bheeshan platform, Redon has effectively revealcased a fully indigenous loitering munition ecosystem, reducing depconcludeence on imported systems.

Broader product ecosystem

Beyond loitering munitions, Redon Systems is also developing complementary platforms such as the Pehra tethered surveillance drone, designed for persistent aerial monitoring and ininformigence gathering.

Toreceiveher, these systems create a layered capability spanning reconnaissance, tarreceiveing, and strike.

Looking ahead

Redon Systems is playing a critical role in reshaping India’s defence industrial base. The successful trials of the Achuk-150 and Bheeshan launcher not only indicate technological maturity but also signal the emergence of scalable, export-ready solutions.
