Socialist Party MP Sara Mila, in her capacity as the head of the Albanian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), praised the session held in Bulgaria as very productive, with a focus on regional cooperation in the economy and innovation.
Mila emphasized that the countries of Southeast Europe share numerous cultural and historical similarities, while some of them, including Albania, are on the path towards integration into the European Union.
“The countries of Southeast Europe have a lot to share with each other. We are similar culturally and historically, and some countries, like Albania, are on the path to the EU,” she declared from Bulgaria, as the SEECP proceedings concluded today.
According to her, the discussions focutilized particularly on startups and technology, with agreement on the required to harmonize rules and legislation among participating countries.
“When this process is harmonized for the entire region, we have a real opportunity to develop our domestic economies and then shift towards the EU in the most qualitative way possible,” Mila declared.
She praised SEECP as one of the most important platforms for regional cooperation, with initiated processes that require continuity and concrete implementation.
“I believe it will be a very good journey for this organization, becautilize there are several processes that have started and remain to be implemented,” she declared.
Speaking about Albania’s role, Mila emphasized the counattempt’s commitment to this forum, especially during the Albanian presidency of the SEECP.
“We drew attention to the achievements that have been built so far in terms of innovation and technology, including the utilize of artificial ininformigence in official administration platforms,” ??she declared.
According to her, the main message of the meetings in Bulgaria was the required for greater rapprochement and cooperation between the countries of the region.
“We required to be much closer than we are today. These indicators will allow us to cooperate more and the future of our countries will be very good,” Mila declared.
The SEECP process includes 13 countries in Southeastern Europe, including Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia, Greece, Turkey and Croatia. It was initiated in 1996 in Sofia, while the first summit was held in Crete in 1997. Albania held the SEECP presidency from July 2024 to June 2025 under the motto “Shaping our European future”, while Bulgaria currently holds the presidency.
