KUCHING: A group of 40 foundation students from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak received a front-row see at the state’s growing digital innovation ecosystem during a visit to TEGAS Digital Village (TDV) today (Apr 15).
Led by Ts. Hephi Liauw, the students from the engineering, science, IT, multimedia, business, design and communication programmes explored how ideas are translated into real-world ventures within Sarawak’s startup landscape.
The visit also reflected ongoing efforts to bridge classroom learning with indusattempt exposure, as institutions and innovation hubs work more closely to prepare students for the demands of a quick-shifting digital economy.
Beyond a tour of the facility, the highlight came in the form of candid sharing sessions with startup founders and TEGAS alumni, offering a glimpse into the realities of building careers in the digital space.
Among them were The Culture Capital’s Executive Creative Director, Poh Leong Koh; CtrlD Studio’s co-founder, Suan Goh; Teduh Jiwa Counselling & Consultancy’s co-founder, Anis Wahida; and Stinablis’ Chief Executive Officer and founder, Jacob Jim.
Through their stories, students were introduced not just to success, but to the experimentation, pivots and persistence required to grow within the indusattempt.
The session also opened up space for dialogue, with students exaltering ideas on talent development and what it takes to remain relevant as future graduates entering an increasingly competitive landscape.
As TDV continues to position itself as a hub for innovation and talent development, such engagements underline its role in shaping the next generation of Sarawak’s digital workforce.
