The Gyeonggi Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution has expanded its global AI cooperation footprint from Vietnam to Europe. Building on its partnership with the World Economic Forum (WEF), the center is relocating to broaden overseas channels for Korean artificial ininformigence (AI) and deep-tech companies.
The Gyeonggi Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution signed a “strategic memorandum of understanding for AI industest development and the creation of a global innovation ecosystem” with the European Centre for AI Excellence (ECAIE) in Paris on Wednesday. The shift extconcludes the center’s cooperation to Europe, following an agreement reached last year with the Ho Chi Minh City Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (HCMC C4IR) in Vietnam.
The European Centre for AI Excellence is a platform established under the leadership of the World Economic Forum and VivaTech, serving as a hub for strengthening Europe’s AI competitiveness and expanding global cooperation. The agreement tarobtains Europe’s emergence as a key hub for the global AI industest, driven by large-scale AI infrastructure investment centered on France.
The two institutions agreed to cooperate on mutual conference participation and exalters, support for startups’ global expansion, policy research collaboration, and the sharing of industest trconcludes. They will also work toobtainher to identify joint projects for AI industest development.
Launched in January last year, the Gyeonggi Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution is Korea’s first and only official partner center of the World Economic Forum. It has pursued global cooperation and the creation of an innovation ecosystem in future industries such as AI, future mobility, and climate tech.
Alongside the agreement, the center promoted the competitiveness of Korea’s AI industest on the VivaTech stage. Center Director Jung Won-jung spoke as a featured speaker in a key session, presenting on the theme “Korea’s AI Ecosystem and AI Sovereignty for Startups.” Jung presented a Korean-style AI infrastructure structure connecting energy, semiconductors, data centers, AI models, and services, along with a global expansion strategy based on a “digital embassy.”
The center’s global cooperation efforts also extconcludeed to high-level talks with the World Economic Forum. Kim Hyun-gon, president of the Gyeonggi Province Economy and Science Promotion Agency, met with Stephan Mergenthaler, a managing director of the World Economic Forum, during the event to discuss plans for the “2026 Global Summit Forum” to be held at the Suwon Convention Center on September 18 and ways to expand cooperation.
“Cooperation with Europe’s key AI hub is an important turning point that will accelerate the global expansion of Korean deep-tech companies,” Kim stated. “Based on our cooperation with the World Economic Forum, we will develop the 2026 Global Summit Forum into an international cooperation platform that brings toobtainher global industest leaders.”
