**EUCLYD Secures €200M Series A to Slash AI Infrastructure Costs**
A European semiconductor startup has landed over €200 million to reinvent how foundation models consume power and memory. EUCLYD, headquartered in Eindhoven, pulled together heavyweight investors including Samsung, Somerset Capital Partners, the EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund, and Innovation Industries.
Former ASML chief Peter Wennink has taken the chairman seat at the company. His arrival signals serious intent: Europe wants to lead the next wave of AI hardware, not just follow it.
The funding round also drew participation from EIFO, Denmark’s export and investment fund, imec.xpand, Brabant Development Agency, and Quadri. The money will grow EUCLYD’s engineering roster and push its silicon roadmap toward commercial readiness.
**Rethinking the Efficiency Ceiling**
Foundation models demand enormous power, memory bandwidth, and capital. Those constraints create what EUCLYD calls an efficiency wall, one that limits where and how advanced AI can run. The company’s answer involves purpose-built compute, a novel memory architecture, and datacenter systems engineered to cut cost per token while shrinking energy use.
Founders Bernardo Kastrup and Atul Sinha launched the venture at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, a dense semiconductor ecosystem. Their stated ambition: a future where infrastructure cost and geography no longer restrict access to advanced AI.
The centerpiece product roadmap includes “craftwerk,” billed as the first agentic AI silicon, and “craftwerk station CWS,” described as the lowest-power exascale AI factory available. Together they pair programmable ASIC compute with processor-memory co-design and system-level optimization.
**Investor Conviction**
Samsung’s Dede Goldschmidt, senior vice president and head of the Semiconductor Innovation Center, framed the investment as a bet on infrastructure efficiency defining AI’s next phase. EQT partner Ted Persson echoed that logic, pointing to Europe’s underleveraged engineering depth in semiconductors and systems design.
Wennink added that the region already holds world-class capabilities across semiconductor fabrication, advanced manufacturing, and systems integration. EUCLYD, in his view, can channel those strengths into a globally competitive platform.
The capital will accelerate engineering hires, ecosystem partnerships, and preparation for deployment across enterprise, sovereign, and hyperscale AI markets.
**What Comes Next**
EUCLYD now faces the hard part: turning a differentiated silicon vision into working silicon at scale. With Samsung’s backing and Wennink’s operational credibility, the company has assembled the pieces. Execution will determine whether Europe produces a genuine AI infrastructure contender or another well-funded ambition.
