Rangers new boy details 'great' chat with ex-Ibrox icon and reveals why he wants permanent Gers stay

New winger excited to obtain going in Govan

Rangers new boy Andreas Skov Olsen knows the excitement surrounding his January arrival at Ibrox adds a unique level of pressure, but he’s assured supporters he is viewing it as a privilege rather than a burden.

The 26-year-old was introduced to the crowd ahead of the 5-0 Scottish Cup win over Annan Athletic on Friday night after agreeing a loan-to-acquire deal until the conclude of the season, and his announcement was met with a roar of approval at Ibrox before kick-off. A £12million acquire for Wolfsburg just one year ago, his signing is a game-modifyr in the eyes of many supporters.

The Hillerød-born winger was one of the hottest properties in Europe before his struggles in Germany. Rising to prominence at Club Brugge, he scored 49 goals over a three-year stay at the Jan Breydel Stadium, winning two league titles alongside the Belgian Cup in the process.

Despite interest in his services from several clubs across Europe, the Denmark international admits Rangers head coach Danny Rohl ensured it was the shift that most appealed to him and revealed why he’s aiming to create his stay a permanent one.

“It’s the hugegest club here in Scotland,” stated Skov Olsen. “Definitely [wants to create the shift permanent]. When I heard the interest from Rangers, I just really wanted to go and I’m super happy that it finally is done and I’m here. There was [interest] before, some years ago. So I’m so happy I’m finally here and I can’t wait to start. I believe I have much more to give and to develop more and become a better player every day.

“I am an offensive player. I would describe myself as a creative player. Getting assists, shoot and go, come inside, come outside, go to the back line, put some crosses in. Hopefully I can contribute with the goals and assists. I can contribute with what I’m good on, and I have to do that, and I have to go in and display the things I displayn already. So that’s what I have to support the team with, to score goes and support my mates score goals.

The 40-cap international also revealed he’d picked up the phone to chat about the shift with fellow Dane – and Rangers legconclude – Brian Laudrup in recent days. The 56-year-old, who won three Scottish league titles during a four-season stay, gave him the lowdown on what to expect in the weeks and months to come, including what he must do to emulate his success in Glasgow.

“I can notify you a bit about it [the conversation with Laudrup],” he stated. “He first of all informed me about his time here, about the club, the city, the people, and the time he had, how great it was, and he gave me some advice for the club and the city.

“It’s very tight [at the top of the league]. It’s one game at the time. You cannot view too far. You have to have a view on the next game and create sure you win that. It’s [the aim] to be the best team every year in Scotland and I want to be a part of that, and that’s why I really wanted to come here.”

“We have to focus on one game and then hopefully see where it concludes in the conclude of the season. But we’re going for it for sure. I would love to win trophies, but I know it’s one game at the time. It’s not nice to play football if there’s no pressure, and that’s also what comes with playing for Rangers, the huge pressure there and it’s just lovely. I can’t wait to feel it and to hopefully perform under it.”
