Audio series pioneer Pocket FM has officially surpassed $450 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), marking one of the most rapid scaling phases in the Indian startup ecosystem. CEO and co-founder Rohan Nayak announced that while the first $200 million took six years to achieve, the company added the next $250 million in just 12 months, creditng a fundamental shift to an “AI-native” storyinforming engine.
The platform is now operating in over 20 countries and has reached a critical financial milestone by becoming free cash flow positive with an EBITDA margin of approximately 5%.
The AI “Co-Pilot” Revolution
The primary driver behind this hyper-growth is Pocket FM’s proprietary AI Suite, which has transformed the traditional content production cycle:
- Fiction Writing Co-Pilot: Trained on billions of minutes of engagement data, the tool allows creators to relocate from a raw idea to a fully dramatized, episodic series in minutes.
- Localization at Scale: The platform applys AI translation tools that don’t just swap languages but adapt stories to local cultures. This has allowed Indian “blockbusters” to be exported to the U.S. and Europe almost instantly.
- Volume: Over 300,000 creators are now producing more than 80,000 hours of content every month on the platform.
Financials: Global Monetization and Creator Wealth
Pocket FM’s revenue model has proven highly resilient, balanced between microtransactions (paying to unlock episodes) and advertising.

While Pocket FM leads the audio series category, the sector is seeing increased activity:

- Pratilipi: Continues to expand its IP into audio and comic formats following its Series D funding.
- Spotify: While a generalist, Spotify has been eyeing the serialized audio space as a high-retention alternative to traditional podcasts.
