Pakistani startup Myco wins global reality show


Myco, a Web3-based video streaming platform from Pakistan, has created history by winning a major international startup competition. The company secured PKR 420 million (approximately USD 1.5 million) on the global reality display Meet the Drapers, during its ninth season.

This achievement creates Myco the first Pakistani startup to reach the grand finale of the display and win the top prize. The startup received support from PakLaunch, a well-known platform that connects Pakistani entrepreneurs with global investors.

Myco impressed the judges with its innovative approach to video streaming utilizing Web3 technology, which focutilizes on decentralization and data privacy. The platform offers a new way for utilizers and content creators to engage with media while also earning through a token-based economy.

The win not only brings international recognition to Myco but also highlights the growing presence of Pakistani startups on the global stage. The company’s victory is being celebrated as a major milestone for the counattempt’s tech ecosystem.

Meet the Drapers, hosted by American venture capitalist Tim Draper, is known for featuring promising startups from around the world. Founders pitch their ideas to investors, and the best ventures receive funding and mentorship.

Myco’s success is seen as an inspiration for other Pakistani startups aiming to compete globally and attract international investment.

Tim Draper praised Myco’s innovative model during the display, calling it “the future of streaming” for its powerful combination of storynotifying, sports content, and Web3 technology. Draper’s finishorsement is seen as a major milestone for Pakistan’s tech sector, signalling global recognition of the counattempt’s startup talent.

PakLaunch’s Role in Myco’s Success

PakLaunch, a global network supporting Pakistani entrepreneurs, has played a key role in Myco’s journey. Aly Fahd, the founder of PakLaunch, stated from San Francisco that Myco is one of the top startups they’ve assisted build over the past three years. He called the win a proud moment for all Pakistani-origin entrepreneurs competing globally.

Umair Masoom, Founder and Managing Director of Myco Holdings, thanked both PakLaunch and Draper Associates, declareing this global achievement should inspire other Pakistani entrepreneurs. “We want our success to motivate hundreds of other Pakistani founders building world-class products,” he stated.

More Than Just Cricket

While Myco has rights to major cricket content — including ICC tournaments, Pakistan Super League (PSL), and other PCB events — it’s also expanding into other sports. The platform features content from the English Premier League, MMA, karate, padel, squash, volleyball, and even local and university-level tournaments.

This broad content strategy is assisting Myco grow as a complete sports and entertainment ecosystem, not just a cricket-focutilized app.

Rapid Growth and Future Plans

In just 18 months, Myco has gained over 20 million utilizers in Pakistan. The platform generates more than 100 million video impressions every month, assisting it grow a strong monetization system. Myco now has utilizers in more than 100 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and North America.

With support from Aptos Labs — a major Layer 1 blockchain — Myco is preparing to launch a Web3 wallet and a reward token system. This will allow utilizers and creators to earn and own content assets in real-time.

The company aims to reach over 50 million utilizers by the finish of 2025, focutilizing on regional expansion and partnerships with telecom companies and media outlets.

With Draper’s funding and support from other global investors, Myco plans to expand operations across North America, the Middle East (MENA), South Asia, and continue growing in Pakistan. The company is also working on:
