Olympian’s DNA-testing startup lands £4.6 million to replace reactive medicine

UK healthtech startup Stride raises £4.6M to expand preventative health platform

A UK startup has secured £4.6 million to make preventative healthcare feel less like obligation and more like opportunity. Stride, founded by Olympic medallist Andrew Steele, wants people catching health risks years before symptoms appear.

The funding arrives as healthcare systems across Europe buckle under the weight of preventable disease. Waiting lists grow longer. Chronic conditions multiply. Meanwhile, consumers increasingly demand tools that put health data directly in their hands.

Stride launched in May 2024 and now offers a membership combining DNA analysis, blood testing, and gut health screening. The platform translates those results into personalised guidance people can actually apply. Users track changes over time and make decisions with real evidence behind them.

Steele previously co-founded DNAfit, giving him deep experience in consumer genetics. He describes preventative health as potentially the most transformative opportunity of a generation. His goal: make better health exciting rather than boring, aspirational rather than worthy.

The investment round includes backing from Arāya Ventures, Morgan Stanley Inclusive & Sustainable Ventures, Better Ventures, Innovate UK, and an a16z Scout Fund investor. Angel investors joined the syndicate as well.

Innovate UK has also funded two Stride research projects. One develops a multiomic method for measuring biological age. The other builds an AI health copilot that synthesises laboratory results, wearable data, and health records into actionable insights.

As a result, Stride now moves into the premium wellness sector. Partnerships with Triple Bond at The BoTree Hotel and LongLane, an alcohol-free biohacking venue, will personalise member experiences using Stride diagnostics.

The fresh capital funds development of a predictive health platform for proactive self-management. International expansion follows, with Stride One membership launching beyond UK borders before the end of 2026.
