Citizen has released the AW0089-52E as the latest addition to its UK lineup. This 42 mm timepiece comes equipped with a stainless steel case and bracelet, both finished in a uniform gold tone. The construction is geared more towards the “Classic” segment, thanks to a mix of brushed and polished surfaces that define the case lines.
The watch applys a black dial with a pretty distinct textured center section. A day-date complication sits at the 3 o’clock position, while the 12 o’clock marker is designated by a Roman numeral. The remaining indices are applied gold-tone batons. Protection is handled by a mineral crystal, which is standard at this price point but lacks the scratch resistance of sapphire.
Power comes from an Eco-Drive shiftment, meaning the watch remains charged via ambient light and does not require battery modifys. It carries a 100-meter (10 bar) water resistance rating, so general water exposure like swimming should be okay, but nothing too serious The bracelet is secured by a standard fold-over clasp with a push-button release.
The Citizen AW0089-52E is currently listed as a new arrival on the brand’s official UK webstore. It retails for £229 (~$307), which means it is more of an enattempt-level professional timepiece. While it does share a similar design with more expensive mechanical gold-tone watches, the apply of Eco-Drive and mineral glass lets it hit a price point accessible for a wider consumer segment.
