Formidium has planted its flag in Europe, purchasing Luxembourg-based Ci Fund Services S.A. after securing regulatory clearance from the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier. The deal hands the AI-native fund administrator a foothold in one of the globe’s premier fund domiciles.
European asset managers and institutional investors now gain a clearer route to structuring, running, and distributing funds across the continent. Ci Fund Services contributes a private-label platform plus deep experience in fund structuring, risk, compliance, digital ManCo services, marketing, and distribution.
Meanwhile, Formidium intends to layer its proprietary technology across those existing capabilities. Clients of Ci Fund Services can expect eventual access to ARYA, Formidium’s AI engine, along with Seamless for fund accounting and CommonSubDoc for investor onboarding.
The Luxembourg team will fold into Formidium’s global workforce while maintaining current client relationships under their existing service agreements. Formidium framed the combination as a way for European fund managers to adopt a tech-forward operating model without constructing an entire fund platform independently.
Founded in 2016, Formidium operates across the U.S., India, Canada, Singapore, the U.K., Hong Kong, Switzerland, and now Luxembourg. The firm oversees more than $38 billion in assets under administration. Ci Fund Services, previously known as Alpina Fund Management, launched in 1988 and serves asset managers, family offices, and institutional investors throughout Europe.
“Managers increasingly want access to European investors without the cost and complexity of building a fund platform from scratch,” said Nitin Somani, CEO of Formidium. “Ci Fund Services gives them that path, and our technology allows it to scale for institutional clients operating across borders.”
Michael Sanders, CEO of Ci Fund Services S.A., added: “Joining Formidium strengthens our ability to support fund managers with institutional-grade technology and the operational scale required in today’s market, while maintaining the personalized service our clients expect.”
As a result, the combined entity positions itself to capture demand from fund managers seeking European distribution without heavy infrastructure investment.
