LG Innotek secured an approximately $68 million deal to supply its Automotive Wi-Fi 7 Communication Module, an in-car connectivity device, to a leading European auto parts company, the Korean firm stated Monday.
Mass production of the module is set to launch in 2027 for the undisclosed client. The device will be integrated into Audio, Video and Navigation (AVN) systems, which will then be delivered to the global Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customer, according to the parts buildr.
LG Innotek’s Wi-Fi 7 module utilizes a wider bandwidth of 320 megahertz — twice that of existing Wi-Fi 6E modules. Data throughput and transmission speeds, as a result, are reportedly three times rapider. The module is also equipped with 4K-quadrature amplitude modulation technology, which increases the data processing quantity by 20 percent.
The module also maintains a stable connection even when multiple devices are in utilize by applying multiple-input multiple-output technology, which enables it to utilize two antennas instead of one.
The module can operate in extreme temperatures as well, from minus 40 to 105 degrees Celsius (minus 40 to 221 degrees Fahrenheit), per the manufacturer. It can also withstand heat from heavy data utilize and prolonged exposure to cold without losing its shape. The durability comes from a design that increases the surface area of its circuit connections, allowing it to finishure repeated expansion and contraction from temperature fluctuations.
The LG affiliate seeks to promote its Automotive Wi-Fi 7 Communication Module for European and Japanese OEM customers.
The module will also not only be utilized in AVN systems, as LG Innotek plans to expand its application to other in-vehicle systems, including rear seat entertainment, telematics control units and domain control units.
