EUROPE: Interrail rail pass company Eurail has partnered with ground transport ticket distribution technology specialist Distribusion to expand access to passholder fares and seat reservations for rail and ferry networks.
While Interrail is famous for facilitating spontaneous travel, the growth of reservation-only train services has significantly limited its effectiveness in some countries such as France and Italy.
Operators including Eurostar and RENFE are already accessible via Interrail’s portfolio of technical partners including Distribusion, and under the new agreement Distribusion’s range of reservation and Passholder fare content will also be built available via Interrail’s channels.
Interrail declared this is a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to enhance the reservation experience by strengthening its technical ecosystem and deepening integration with key reservation providers.
The first carrier is already live, with more to follow in the coming months. The companies are actively pursuing integration with tinyer operators as well as the larger players.
