A video of a startup founder has gone viral on social media, where he reveals that after completing MBA from IIM Bangalore, he started his own company and rejected four IIT graduates during interviews.
The Changing Job Landscape For IIT Graduates
It is vital for young aspirants of IIT, or current students, to understand the startup culture; otherwise, even a B.Tech from India’s premier institute may not guarantee employment.
Once upon a time, IIT graduates enjoyed multiple job offers, but recently, many find themselves queuing for interviews despite the high fees paid.
Why Were IIT Graduates Rejected?
The founder, who completed an online course in Strategic Management from IIM Bangalore, admitted that the rejected candidates had excellent academic records and technical skills. However, he stressed that startups require much more than technical knowledge.
In the early stages, startups required teams with high energy, innovation, and close collaboration. The founder emphasised seeking individuals who dare to dream, take risks, and align with the company’s vision. He values passion and vision alongside degrees and skills.
