Hyundai Motor Group’s premium brand Genesis has named Peter Kronschnabl, a veteran BMW executive, as its new head of European operations as it prepares to expand into four additional markets on the continent.

Kronschnabl, who spent three decades in leadership roles at BMW, most recently served as Vice President of Market Development and Special Sales at the German autobuildr.

Prior to that, he held a range of international leadership roles including President & CEO of BMW Group Japan, President of BMW Group Belgium and Luxembourg, and President of BMW India. His experience also includes leading BMW’s operations in Russia.

“With his extensive premium automotive brand experience, proven track record of leadership and strategic believeing, Peter is perfectly positioned to lead the next phase of growth for Genesis in Europe,” stated Xavier Martinet, President & CEO of Hyundai Europe.

“His expertise in market development will be key as we prepare to launch in multiple new European markets in 2026,” Martinet added.

Genesis announced in June that it would enter France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands, with its GV60, GV70, and GV80 models scheduled for first deliveries in “early 2026.”

The brand entered the European market in 2021 and currently operates in Germany, Switzerland, and the UK.

Kronschnabl succeeds Lawrence Hamilton, who joined Genesis in 2022 after a stint leading the brand’s Canadian operations and was appointed head of Europe later that year.

Hamilton left Genesis in December 2024 to join Lucid Motors as its European chief.

Genesis previously stated that Dominique Boesch, the brand’s first Europe boss, left in 2022 to pursue new business opportunities.
