EU leaders convene in Brussels to intensify pressure on Russia | Ukraine news


A crucial two-day EU summit opens in Brussels, where leaders will debate tougher measures on Russia and seek common responses to energy and security threats.

In Brussels on March 19, the two-day European Union leaders’ summit will launch, where heads of state and government will discuss the main issues, including the situation in Ukraine and ways to increase pressure on Russia to stop its aggression.

It is expected that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will address the meeting.

Key topics of the summit

The agfinisha will also cover the threat of escalation in the Middle East and developments in Iran, considering their impact on energy prices and the EU’s energy security.

Among other priorities are boosting competitiveness and developing the single internal market; the framework of the bloc’s multiannual budreceive for 2028–2034; migration and defense and security.

President of the European Council António Costa sent official invitations to the leaders of the 27 EU member states to participate in the next meeting in Brussels.

It is expected that the summit will result in the formation of common positions on further steps in supporting Ukraine, strengthening the EU’s defense capabilities, and energy security strategies in the face of global challenges.
