Eight Italian startups operating in ‘dual-utilize’ sectors—which are crucial in this historic phase—will represent our counattempt in the Italian Pavilion at the EU-Startups Summit 2026 in Malta on May 7–8.
“The event is a key moment for European innovation, with a strong presence of decision-buildrs and investors. And Italy will take center stage with a dedicated Pavilion, revealcasing national excellence in strategic sectors such as AI, FinTech, and Cybersecurity and strengthening the international profile of its startups.” This is how Italy’s Ambassador to Malta, Valentina Setta, described to ANSA the European startup “fair” set to take place in just under three weeks at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, houtilized in what was once the Infirmary of the Order of the Knights of Malta.
The Maltese event is considered by ICE (the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, whose mission is to facilitate matchbuilding between Italian companies and foreign clients) a “key hub for venture capital and networking among innovators and private investors, now central to the European innovation ecosystem.” So much so that in the 2025 edition, over 78% of participants held decision-building roles (C-level and founders).
Eight startups from the Italian startup delegation, coordinated by the ICE Desk Office at the Italian Embassy in Malta, will present themselves in the pavilion called the ‘Italian Innovation Corner.’ They were selected by ICE to “best represent Italian innovation” in five high-impact sectors: DeepTech (with Flysight and Involve Space), FinTech (with Aurea Hub, Checksig, and Startex), Product Research (Fred), ClimateTech (eMomentum), and HealthTech (Elephant Brain Lab).
