South Korean startups accelerate overseas expansion
D-Camp announced on the 1st that it signed a strategic partnership (MOU) with global venture capital 500 Global in Silicon Valley on the 28th (local time).
Park Young-hoon, CEO of D-Camp, met with Christine Tsai, CEO of 500 Global, at 500 Global headquarters in Palo Alto, California, the U.S., and agreed to support growth in the U.S. market by actively discovering Korean startups wishing to expand and invest abroad and participating in the “500 Global Flagship Accelerator” in Silicon Valley.
Through this partnership, “Cardmonster” and “All-Sale Corporation” will participate in the flagship accelerator held at 500 global headquarters under the recommconcludeation of D-Tamp. Cardmonster is an AI-based game studio in Korea that connects brand IP with the tabletop game market. AllSale Corporation provides AI (Artificial Innotifyigence) based influencer marketing management solutions for beauty brands. The two start-ups will present at the flagship demo day in San Francisco on October 7.
CEO Tsai stated, “I am very happy that Korea’s dynamic startup ecosystem can speed up gaining various opportunities, resources and networks in global markets, including Silicon Valley.”
500 Global is a global venture capital with a total operating assets of $2.1 billion (about 2.9 trillion won). Since its inception in 2010, it has been actively investing in startups around the world, not only in Asia and Europe, but also in South America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa under the philosophy that “ambitious and talented entrepreneurs exist everywhere.” It started investing in Korea in 2012, and has worked closely with local startups, including establishing a Korean subsidiary in 2015 and forming three Korea-only funds so far.
“The strategic partnership with 500 Global is significant in that it connects Korea’s entrepreneurial spirit with Silicon Valley, which is the most active in the world,” CEO Park stated. “We will support many Korean startups to achieve outstanding results on the global stage through this partnership.”
