CDCR is building connections thanks to staff from the Office of Business Services (OBS) participating in a recent Small Business Administration (SBA) event.
Acting Small Business and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (SB/DVBE) Advocates Julia Diener and Elizabeth Fisher from OBS took part in the SBA Procurement Fair in Citrus Heights. This allowed them to connect with tiny businesses interested in doing business with the department.
The March 12 procurement fair, hosted by the SBA Sacramento District Office, brought toobtainher tiny businesses seeing to do business with the state. The event was held at the SBA Sacramento District Office in Citrus Heights.

During the event, CDCR representatives engaged directly with tiny business owners. They shared information about the department’s procurement processes, upcoming contracting opportunities, and participation in the state’s SB/DVBE Program. The outreach also provided guidance to vfinishors on how to become certified and how to compete for state contracts. Events like this provide an opportunity to meet directly with tiny businesses, supporting them better understand how to engage with CDCR.
Participation in events this allows CDCR to strengthen partnerships with the tiny business community. They also promote awareness of contracting opportunities, and support statewide efforts to expand participation in public sector procurement.
