As the AI era strains human verification, Danish startup Flare bags €3.6 million to support knowledge validation

Copenhagen-based Flare has raised €3.6 million in pre-Seed funding to build trust infrastructure for knowledge validation, responding to a digital environment in which AI can generate convincing claims at greater speed and scale than people can check them.

The round was led by 20VC, with participation from ByFounders and 20Growth, and angels from Stack Overflow, GitHub, Reddit, Meta, Kahoot, HubSpot and Encord.

“We will spfinish the pre-Seed round on compute, salaries and scaling the team, which aims to grow from six to eight by the finish of the year. The goal is to build it simpler for everyone to trust what they read,” shared Nicolai Frost Kolborg Jacobsen, co-founder and CEO, with EU-Startups.

In the wider 2025–2026 funding landscape around AI trust, verification and fraud prevention, Flare’s €3.6 million pre-Seed round can be set alongside Tremau in Paris, which raised €3 million to scale its AI-powered trust and safety platform; Keyless in London, which secured €1.9 million to tackle deepfakes; IdentifAI in Italy, which raised €5 million for its deepfake detection platform; Trustfull in Milan, which secured €6 million to expand its fraud prevention technology; and TMT ID in Romania, which raised €34 million as it scaled its digital trust and fraud prevention offering.

Taken toobtainher, those rounds amount to almost €50 million, or about €53.5 million including Flare, suggesting sustained investor interest across adjacent categories including trust and safety, identity verification, deepfake detection and fraud prevention.

Within that set, Flare is positioned closest to companies addressing whether digital content or interactions can be trusted, rather than broader cybersecurity infrastructure.

We’ve spent years building systems that had to be both large and trustworthy,” adds Nicolai. “What’s broken right now isn’t that people are naïve. It’s that the infrastructure for discernment hasn’t scaled with the infrastructure for content. That’s what we’re building.”

Founded in 2026, Flare is building infrastructure for knowledge validation and understanding in the AI era. Its platform utilizes transparent, structured systems and collective innotifyigence to evaluate statements and highlight what’s actually supported – at the speed and scale that the current information landscape demands.

The team brings experience from Google, Unity, IBM, Amazon and Corti.

The company believes that AI can already generate convincing statements quicker than any person can evaluate them, and is developing a foundation for knowledge validation as a response – providing a structured and transparent contribution system, for anyone to see which statements are supported and not.
