Earlier this month, Anthropic introduced its most advanced AI model so far, but stated it would not be available to the public. Within a week, several venture capital firms offered to invest at valuations of around $800 billion, according to a Business Insider report.
This is more than double the $380 billion post-money valuation from its $30 billion Series G round two months ago. Bloomberg reports that Anthropic has not yet taken new funding but may raise more money later.
At $800 billion, Anthropic would be valued just below OpenAI’s $852 billion valuation from March.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by Dario and Daniela Amodei and other former OpenAI colleagues who were concerned about how quickly AI was being commercialised. The company has grown quicker than investors expected. Its annualised revenue is now over $30 billion, up from about $9 billion at the conclude of 2025.
Anthropic is also having early talks with Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Morgan Stanley about possibly going public as soon as October 2026. Bankers believe the IPO could raise over $60 billion, creating it the second-largest in history after SpaceX’s expected $75 billion debut.
