The 2027 NutraIngredients Europe Awards just opened for submissions, bringing fresh categories that spotlight pet health, metabolic wellness, and the manufacturers behind successful supplement brands.
Now entering its thirteenth year, this annual program gives companies across the nutrition sector a platform to demonstrate scientific rigor, earn industry credibility, and elevate their market presence. Early applicants save €60 per entry before Dec. 4, 2026, while the final cutoff lands on Feb. 1, 2027.
For ingredient developers, the Nutraceutical Ingredient of the Year categories span beauty-from-within, botanicals, healthspan, microbiome modulation, mind and mood, and sports nutrition. Judges look for peer-reviewed evidence, verified commercial traction, and clear differentiation from competing ingredients.
A newly added Companion Animals category recognizes scientifically backed ingredients targeting pet longevity and vitality. Probiotics, postbiotics, botanicals, proteins, and bioactives that address digestion, mobility, cognition, immunity, and skin health all qualify, particularly those responding to shifting demands from pet owners and veterinarians.
Meanwhile, the Product of the Year awards mirror those ingredient categories but evaluate finished goods. Assessment criteria include ingredient relevance, brand recognition, retail distribution, packaging appeal, ease of use, and how formulation choices affect bioavailability.
This year also debuts a Product of the Year: Metabolic Health award. It covers supplements, functional foods, and beverages supporting blood glucose regulation, insulin sensitivity, metabolic flexibility, and cardiometabolic outcomes, including solutions aimed at current or former GLP-1 medication users.
Two specialty categories also join the roster. The CDMO of the Year Award honors contract development and manufacturing organizations that demonstrate technical excellence, regulatory compliance, quality control, and meaningful partnerships with brands. The Editors’ Award for Initiative of the Year, judged by NutraIngredients’ European editorial team, recognizes non-company programs advancing public health, sustainability, or transparency across the nutrition industry. Entry in this category remains free.
Editor Nikki Hancocks framed the awards as a benchmark for sector leadership, noting they highlight the innovations likely to define nutraceuticals for years ahead.
Entries close Feb. 1, 2027, with the early-bird discount expiring Dec. 4, 2026.
