Nokia, Microsoft target faster AI adoption in telecom networks

Nokia and Microsoft have deepened their alliance, targeting the chaotic reality of telecom network operations with a new push to embed AI and automation directly into daily workflows.

The collaboration arrives as operators face mounting pressure to commercialize AI beyond pilot projects. Carriers have struggled to turn scattered network data into usable intelligence quickly enough for real-time decisions.

At the center of the effort sits a unified data foundation merging Nokia’s Data Suite with Microsoft Fabric. Nokia’s contribution delivers pre-built telecom data products. Microsoft’s platform supplies analytics, data management, and AI tooling in one environment.

The result: operators can fuse network data with business information from other departments without spending weeks on integration and preparation. The combined solution operates across multiple network vendors and domains, including cloud, hybrid, and on-premises deployments.

That flexibility matters as carriers navigate shifting regulatory landscapes while adopting AI broadly. Vivek Jaiswal, Nokia’s Senior Vice President for Autonomous Networks, framed the partnership as a shift from rigid infrastructure toward programmable, AI-native platforms.

Meanwhile, the companies are also tackling predictive maintenance. AI agents will analyze historical and live network data to flag emerging issues before subscribers experience service disruptions.

Microsoft’s Silvia Candiani, Corporate Vice President for Worldwide Telco and Media, emphasized the industry’s readiness to move AI from trials into routine operations. She noted that achieving this requires trusted data, robust governance, and platforms built for scale.

The combined offering creates a faster route from raw network telemetry to operational insight, addressing a bottleneck that has slowed AI adoption across the telecom sector.
