The American company **Boulder Imaging** announced a strategic alliance with **Oikon Ltd.**, the leading environmental consulting firm in **Croatia**, to introduce the **IdentiFlight** system, a technology based on **artificial ininformigence (AI)** designed to **protect birds in wind farms**.
This collaboration aims to **promote sustainable wind development** in **Southeastern Europe**, without compromising regional **biodiversity**.
Renewable energy and conservation: a necessary balance
Within the framework of the **European Green Deal**, Croatia is advancing in the transition to **clean energies**, which has raised the requirements to obtain permits for wind farm installations, especially in areas near **Natura 2000 zones**.
In this context, the **IdentiFlight** system emerges as a key tool to comply with the **environmental impact assessments** required by European regulations.
IdentiFlight: real-time bird protection and automated turbine reduction
The **IdentiFlight** system utilizes **AI and computer vision** to detect birds in real-time and activate **automatic turbine reduction**, minimizing the risk of collisions. This technology allows the protection of ecologically valuable species such as:
- Eurasian Griffon Vulture
- European Honey Buzzard
- Short-toed Snake Eagle
- Golden Eagle
- Common Kestrel

Proven technology with global impact
With a presence on **five continents**, **IdentiFlight** has demonstrated its effectiveness in **reducing bird deaths by over 85%** in wind farms, maintaining an **energy loss of less than 1%**.
The first systems in Croatia are scheduled for **2026**, with a focus on **sensitive migratory corridors** and **ecologically valuable areas**.
