HONG KONG — Asia’s technology media landscape just shifted. TNGlobal, the platform formerly known as TechNode Global, has finalized its purchase of Jumpstart Media, the company behind Hong Kong’s influential Jumpstart Magazine.
The deal stitches together two of the region’s most established voices covering startups and venture capital. For TNGlobal, this move signals an aggressive push to dominate pan-Asian innovation storytelling.
Jumpstart built its reputation over more than ten years inside Hong Kong’s tight-knit community of founders, investors, universities, and government bodies. The brand carved out a unique space covering early-stage ventures and leadership. Under the new ownership structure, Jumpstart will keep that identity intact. It continues operating independently under its existing name and editorial direction.
What changes is the scale. Jumpstart now gains access to TNGlobal’s networks spanning Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, and Greater China. It also inherits ties to TechNode’s global infrastructure, particularly in deep tech and artificial intelligence sectors. As a result, Hong Kong startups covered by Jumpstart can tap pipelines into markets and capital sources that previously sat beyond reach.
Dr. Lu Gang, founder and CEO of TechNode Group, framed the acquisition as a long-term commitment rather than a simple expansion. He emphasized that Jumpstart would retain close relationships with local stakeholders while drawing on TechNode’s international resources. The goal involves building a stronger bridge connecting Hong Kong’s ecosystem with Asia’s broader tech community.
James Kwan, executive chairman of Jumpstart Media, described the moment as a new chapter. He stressed continuity: the same dedication to Hong Kong’s innovators, now supercharged by regional scale.
Together, the combined entity plans deeper industry coverage, more cross-border events, and sharper trend analysis focused on emerging Asian technologies. Media content, research, and strategic partnerships will attempt to lower the friction that still separates entrepreneurs across different Asian hubs.
For Hong Kong, the acquisition reinforces its standing as a gateway. For TNGlobal, the playbook looks clear: stitch local authority into a regional backbone and sell the world on Asia’s startup story.
