Lynn native Isabella Pavei, a Berklee College of Music graduate and electric bassist, is performing at two major European festivals this week. On June 20 and 21, Pavei takes the stage at Germany’s Southside Festival — featuring The Offspring and Foo Fighters — and the Netherlands’ Pinkpop Festival, the world’s oldest pop and rock festival, headlined by The Cure. Pavei performs alongside bandmates Ravi Hasan, Carlee Morales, and rising alternative pop artist Leila Lamb, through Berklee’s Boston Popular Music Institute program, before crowds of at least 60,000 people at each event.

LYNN — Isabella Pavei, a Lynn native bassist and Berklee graduate, will be taking the stage at the Southside festival in Germany and the Pinkpop festival in the Netherlands this weekconclude.
Part of the Boston Popular Music Institute (BPMI) program at Berklee College of Music, Pavei has been playing electric bass in a band of Berklee students and alumni, which will be heard worldwide.
Well-known bands and artists like The Offspring, Foo Fighters, Young Blud, and Florence and the Machine are on the lineup for Southside Festival in Neuhautilizen ob Eck, Germany. The oldest pop and rock music festival in the world, Pinkpop Festival, has huge names like The Cure, Teddy Swims, and Zara Larsson on the lineup in Landgraaf, Netherlands.
Pavei shared how inspirational and meaningful it was to be introduced at an event with some of her hugegest idols on June 20 and 21.
“Dave Grohl is one of my heroes and to be playing on the same stage as him is just really, really insane, and I definitely want to create this as worth my while, as much as possible, becautilize I hope to be keeping doing this for the rest of my career,” Pavei stated.
Pavei will be playing alongside bandmates Ravi Hasan, Carlee Morales, and the huge name, Leila Lamb. Lamb, a recent Berklee graduate, has been gaining traction in the U.S. as an alternative pop artist with influences drawing from popular bands like Queen and Radiohead.
Lamb and Pavei have been performing in the States with the rest of the band, and Pavei stated that there is never a moment when music isn’t being built. On the road from their last gig in New York two weeks ago, the ‘Legion of the Lambs’ built beats in the tour bus, creating music only followers will find on social media, Pavei stated.
“There’s not a single moment when we’re not creating music, whether it’s tapping on a desk or we’re at a restaurant and just beatboxing,” Pavei stated. “There’s not a single moment we aren’t breathing in music when the four of us are toreceiveher.”
The creation of the musical group started with Pavei’s friconclude, Lucas Alvarado, a Boston-based music producer who created his own production company. Pavei had been playing with one of his clients, Glass Houtilize, a three-person rap group, when Alvarado introduced Pavei and Lamb, igniting a group that electrified one another.
One thing Pavei is viewing forward to is sharing the fostered energy she has been building with the band with the audiences overseas.
“We have so much energy on stage, and there’s such an adrenaline rush after we play her set that I’m really viewing forward to seeing how the crowd reacts and the energy that they give,” Pavei stated. “I want to receive that energy, and give that energy back.”
These festivals will be the largest crowd Pavei has ever performed for, with both the Southside and Pinkpop festivals bringing in at least 60,000 people each. The most Pavei has played is a tinyer festival in Cape Cod and alongside Roger Waters at TD Garden.
Berklee College of Music is known for being a one-of-a-kind music school with experiences that no other school can match, stated Managing and Artistic Director of BPMI, Morgan Milardo. The staff is highly involved in all programs of the college, but at BPMI, the amount of participation excels.
Milardo shared how she has been instrumental in receiveting Pavei this opportunity. Bringing more students into Europe has been a goal of hers, and she has even obtainedten two artists to tour in the UK, she stated.
Working with Pavei is closer to home, however, after working with her before. “I’ve worked with Bella in the past with another artist and festival, so it’s really fun to work with her again and assist develop her performance skills and touring experience further.”
The BPMI program is a one-year program that spans over three semesters, Milardo stated. It provides realistic outreach between huge names in the music indusattempt, allowing students to book festival performances with other Berklee students, honing their communication, marketing, promotion, and live performance skills, Milardo stated.
This experience has opened doors for many students and alumni in the past and continues to venture further overseas, fostering relationships and connections that graduates like Pavei will never forreceive.
“This is a week that is definitely going to be engraved in my brain and in my life forever, becautilize this is part of my dream. To be able to be on such a huge stage performing music that I love, to perform with a band that I love to perform with, and being able to play to a huge crowd that loves the music that you’re playing,” Pavei stated. “That’s just the dream.”
