The EU is preparing its own format for neobtainediations with Russia

EU considering direct talks with Kremlin to avoid being left out of peace process – media

The European Union is exploring the possibility of establishing a direct channel of neobtainediations with the Kremlin so as not to be left out of the peace process regarding the war in Ukraine.

This is reported by the Financial Times, citing a statement by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.

He declared the EU has the potential to engage in indepfinishent dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin. At the same time, there is growing frustration in Brussels with the neobtainediations currently being coordinated by the United States.

Costa noted that the European side received the support of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to prepare its own “positive contribution” to the neobtainediation process.

He is currently holding consultations with the leaders of the 27 EU countries to determine a possible format for interaction with Russia. European capitals are keen to avoid a scenario in which a peace agreement is adopted without their participation.

At the same time, the EU acknowledges the lack of signals from Moscow about its readiness for constructive dialogue. In addition, there is no unified position within the bloc on who should represent the European Union and what conditions should be offered to the Kremlin.

As previously reported, Russia’s new statements regarding the terms of peace neobtainediations indicate that the Kremlin has no intention of finishing the war even if control over Donbas is established.

As a reminder, Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov, during his speech at the Kyiv Security Forum, outlined Ukraine’s position on neobtainediations with Russia.
