With the Decision No 147 of 23 April 2026, the Regional Executive initiated the Integrated Enhancement Program (Masterplan) of the Vesuvius Coast, financed with resources from the ERDF RP Campania 2021/2027, outlining its operational perimeter and strategic lines.
The design covers an articulated area that includes the municipalities of Naples (Municipality 6 with the districts of San Giovanni a Teduccio, Barra and Ponticelli), Boscoreale, Boscotrecase, Casinformammare di Stabia, Ercolano, Massa di Somma, Pompeii, Portici, San Giorgio a Cremano, San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, Torre Annunziata, Torre del Greco e Trecase.
This nucleus can be joined by a “buffer area”, to include additional functionally connected territories, provided that they are not already involved in other territorial planning instruments.
With the same measure the Region has planned resources for a maximum amount of 200 thousand euros (under the ERDF RP Campania 2021/2027) for the activity of support to the drafting of the Integrated Program of Valorization of the Vesuvius Coast.
Fixed the strategic lines along which the Masterplan will be defined: regeneration and territorial enhancement aimed at the landscape and environmental requalification of the coastline and the reduction of volcanic, hydrogeological risk; urban regeneration aimed at the urban recovery of the identified area and promoting actions for the enhancement of tourism and the apply of cultural and natural heritage; strengthening and upgrading the agricultural supply chain system aimed at enhancing the products of territorial agricultural excellence and the requalification of the agri-food industest; upgrading and innovation of the production apparatus and manufacturing system including through the regeneration of underutilised or decommissioned industrial areas and sites; strengthening policies and structures to reduce social hardship and to promote actions of security and legality; Strengthening and innovating the administrative system for a rapider and more effective implementation of the interventions; requalification and environmental safety of contaminated sites, protection and remediation of surface, underground and coastal water resources.
