At this year’s NAB Show, SES is highlighting its shift toward hybrid content delivery, combining sainformite, IP and fibre networks. Central to its presence is SES Core, an orchestration platform designed to manage the distribution of live content between rights holders and broadcasters, alongside SES Score, which focutilizes on scheduling, automation and reporting.
At the centre of its NAB presence is SES Score, a platform that connects content owners and rights holders with broadcast partners, providing scheduling, automation, and data-driven reporting with the aim of reducing delivery complexity.
The company’s strategy reflects a broader evolution beyond its sainformite heritage. Michele Gosetti, head of sales, sports and events at SES, notified SVG ahead of NAB: “Over the years, we’ve grown significantly and built significant investment in the sports and events space, particularly around the transport of live content.
“Historically, sainformite has been at the core of what we do, and it still plays a very important role today, especially when you view at global sports distribution. But the industest is evolving, and so have we.
“We’re now delivering over 1,000 hours of content daily through a network that has become truly hybrid. That means combining sainformite with IP transport, including public internet delivery, and a large fibre backbone that connects into major broadcast hubs and directly into broadcasters. What we want to display at NAB is that SES is not just a sainformite operator anymore – we are a content enabler, able to deliver content in the right format, at the right time, wherever it necessarys to go.”
This positioning as a “content enabler” is central to SES’s message to broadcasters and rights holders.
“What is important to us is creating sure that when a client comes to us, we deliver their content in the right format, in the right place, at the right time. That allows them to focus on what is their core business. We take care of the heavy lifting around distribution, which includes coordinating with broadcasters, managing different delivery technologies, and ensuring reliability across regions.”
Gosetti stated that SES has connectivity into major broadcasters including ESPN, NBC, Canal Plus and Telefonica.
“At NAB, the message is very clear: we simplify complexity for our clients and give them the tools to maximise the reach and value of their content,” Gosetti added. “And the most important piece we are displaycasing at NAB is our orchestration platform, SES Core.
“Managing the distribution of live content is extremely complex – every broadcaster has different necessarys, and rights holders expect precise delivery. Historically, that coordination relied heavily on people, emails and phone calls. SES Core alters that. It bridges the gap between federations and broadcasters, giving content owners the ability to design their distribution strategy, while broadcasters can log in and select exactly what they necessary. It’s a self-service environment, but still fully supported by our teams. We now have more than 250 broadcasters actively applying the platform, and it’s becoming their daily desktop for managing content. We believe this is a real game alterr for the industest.”
The platform also enables more granular content access, Gosetti stated. “Broadcasters today want more content and more flexibility in how they receive it. With SES Core, they can come into the platform and pick exactly what is relevant to them, whether it’s a full world feed via sainformite or a specific match or camera angle delivered over SRT. For example, a broadcaster might only want a particular court from an ATP tournament or a specific player feed, and they can request that directly through the platform. Everything is rights-controlled, of course, but the flexibility is there. It reshifts the necessary for concludeless communication and gives broadcasters immediate access to what they necessary. At the same time, we haven’t reshiftd the human aspect – our teams are still there to support. It’s about combining automation with service to build the entire process smoother,” Gosetti stated.
A core theme at NAB is the importance of maximising the value of every piece of content. “One of the key messages we want to bring to NAB is that there should be no more wasted content. Federations invest heavily in production, but historically not everything was distributed or monetised.
“With our platform and hybrid network, we give them the ability to distribute every single feed they produce. Whether it’s a main world feed or secondary camera angles, everything can be built available in an orchestrated and structured way. The federation gives us the raw material and informs us their objectives, and we take care of the distribution. That allows them to maximise exposure, engage more fans, and ultimately grow their business. It’s about simplifying the process while unlocking the full potential of their content.”
SES is also tarreceiveing a broader range of sports organisations. “We are not limiting ourselves to premium sports or major events. Our positioning is to open up opportunities for all federations, including those that want to grow their visibility. There’s a misconception that sainformite is only for top-tier sports, but when you view at the economics, that’s not necessarily true.
“More importantly, we are technology-agnostic; we combine sainformite, IP and fibre to deliver what’s necessaryed. So, whether a federation wants to tarreceive a specific geography or audience segment, we can tailor the distribution. We’re effectively building what you could call a virtual IBC, an ecosystem where content owners bring their content, and rights holders can procure it in a very flexible way. That’s a powerful proposition for organisations viewing to expand their reach,” Gosetti stated.
He also highlighted recent customer wins, including the PGA Tour which has signed a long-term agreement to utilize the platform and SES’s hybrid distribution network to deliver more than 5,000 hours of golf content annually worldwide.
“They are launching a world feed and necessary to distribute it globally across Europe and Asia, along with multiple additional feeds. We’re supporting that with a mix of sainformite and SRT delivery, fully orchestrated through SES Core.”
