More support for R&D and promotion of entrepreneurship suggested to support keep companies in Europe
A study of how many European startup companies relocate outside the continent, and why they shift, has offered recommfinishations to policybuildrs on how to retain more of their most important activities—including by increasing support for research.
The study, carried out by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, analysed almost 16,600 startups created between 2000 and 2021 that received venture capital funding, as well as almost 22,800 similar startups that did not receive VC backing.
